EDC

Everyday Carry, or EDC, generally refers to small items or gadgets worn, carried, or made available in pockets, holsters, or bags on a daily basis to manage common tasks or for use in unexpected situations or emergencies. In a broader sense, it is a lifestyle, discipline, or philosophy of preparedness.

Did a bag dump for Strawfoot Handmade. No tools or anything, as I don’t really feel like a need any. Might get a knife eventually but right now this is all I need to have a good day.
From left:
Blistex(I’m addicted)
IFA(liquorice pastille)
LV Wallet
Keys + Bank thing
iPhone
iPod
Monster Turbine In-ear plugs
Nintendo DSi XL
A Good book(1Q84 right now)
Moscot Lemtosh sunglasses
Dog(Basset Artesien Normand) tries to fit in the bag
Cheers, Marius

Editor’s Note: I think you’re right, seeing that dog was all I needed to have a good day too. Thanks for sharing.

I organized and changed up my EDC stuff today and thought it’d be cool to share. I’ve always struggled with not having enough pocket space for the stuff I want to carry, and I finally found the right small bag to clip onto my belt, at a Japanese bookstore, of all places. I use two #3 S-Biners, attached to D-rings on the back, to hang it from two belt loops over my front right pocket, which actually looks pretty decent despite how dorky it sounds in concept.
So here’s the true pocket stuff:
-Dosh Wallet-iPhone 4-Citizen Watch (Special edition based on the Navitach)-Spyderco Ladybug Salt-8GB Sony Flash Drive-Leatherman Micra-County Comm LED-County Comm Split Pea lighter-Car/house keys
And then in the pouch:
-Canon S90 w/ CameraLeather.com griptac kit-Leatherman Monarch 300-Lenspen MiniPro II
I think the cheap pen, battery, etc are pretty obvious. I also keep my phone in the pouch when I’m carrying it.
I’d really like to get a different light. I’m thinking Maratac AAA. I’d also consider a different main knife since the Spyderco is pretty small, I’d be interested to hear suggestions on a relatively affordable (not much more than $50) knife, which ideally would be one-handed openable, but wouldn’t have the kind of “tactical” look that freaks people out. I’ll also probably buy a short Space Pen and a very small notebook.
Oh, and I’ll see how the S-biner on the keys does. I’m not too worried since I carry in the pocket.

Editor’s Note: Hey there! Your carry looks to be pretty thorough and it covers most functions you’d need as a cosplay photographer. Good job keeping it all organized in that pouch too (I have a similar one for my SD780 that I got at a bookstore inside a Mitsuwa as well). I like that grip mod on the S90. As for any upgrades to the carry, the Maratac should do fine and will keep your carry fairly light, but I think the newest models have done away with the ‘mid’ output mode and kept it high/low (but with better output). If you find your Ladybug too small, there’s always the H1 Dragonfly 2 which is slightly bigger but otherwise very similar to your current knife. Hope that helps, thanks for sharing!

Editor’s Note: Hi everyone, I’ll be going to the Philippines for a couple of weeks to address some family matters and I am not sure of the internet situation yet, so I apologize in advance if the posting frequency on the site becomes less consistent. To try to make it up to you, here’s a little shot of what I’ll likely be carrying overseas:
Polarized sunglasses
Rockboxed Sansa Clip+ w/ 32gb microSD
Playing Cards
Microfiber towel (for phone, gadgets, glasses and intense perspiration)
Headporter Hip Pack
4sevens Quark 123 Ti
iPhone 4S anti-theft device
Pilot Birdy Mini SS and SS Sharpie
My attempt at a paleo trail mix
Victorinox Super Tinker with 550 lanyard (should cover all the tools I need)
Seiko SNN215 on Grey NATO (Adjustable strap in case I swell up from the heat and/or consumption of rice)
USB to mini USB, spare CR123a battery, SS peanut lighter
Handkerchief (I’ve been told it’s hot in the Philippines)
iPhone charger (I’ll pick up a universal adapter when I land)
Shure SE530 custom remolds, vintage leather belt pouch
I’d likely be carrying this pack with my camera, or inside of my RUSH 24. My RUSH24 will keep a compact spare change of clothes, a compact umbrella, my laptop and charger, a book, and so on… I’d prefer to have a less “tactical” look and a more fobby asian look just to blend in better I guess! I don’t anticipate needing too much gear as I’ll be in the city, and as I’m not sure of the knife laws exactly, I’ll play it safe with a SAK.
Anyway, thanks for looking. If I see cool gear during my travels, it’ll likely end up on @carrygram!

Cool blog!  I came across it while looking for a replacement for a keychain SAK that is now the property of the TSA.
Bag dump:
— LV coin purse: extra contact lenses, band-aids, antiseptic wipes, antibiotic ointment, safety pins, q-tips, tiny tube of hand lotion (refillable), feminine supplies.
— handkerchief
— iPhone (Japanese lacquer decals, hand-applied)
— earbuds in little coin case
— Mont Blanc pen
— teeny notepad, 31 very thin sheets, goes in the wallet.
— patent leather card case used as a wallet. Huge wallets are marketed toward women, but all I need is that little case.
— pill box
— key chain: mini e-gear flashlight, USB drive.  USB drive has a metal casing; switched out the cellphone charm type lobster clip for a sturdier clip.
— True Utility nall clipper kit.  Has a blade, nail file, scissors, and has replaced the above-mentioned SAK and the separate nail clipper I used to carry.
— mini screwdriver set on same ring, with an extra clip to clip to key leash in the bag.
— eye drops (sit in front of a computer all day…), lip balm
— business card case
— watch, bracelet, necklace: everyday wear rather than carry, and I thought the Cartier screw motif and the Tiffany key on a ball chain were thematically appropriate to EDC…

Editor’s Note: Hi Yana, thanks for sharing… I appreciate thorough explanations of your purse contents (most of the time I have no idea what’s going on in a woman’s purse, haha). I can tell your load out is very well thought out and I admire that you still manage to keep things nice and compact despite the temptation of overcarrying, which is common when people have a dedicated bag for EDC (in this case, presumably a purse of some sort). Keeping a shoulder bag, purse, or what have you lightweight is important for comfort and ergonomics too. As for your kit, good job on utilizing the popular ‘pack in pack’ approach with smaller sundry items in your LV pouch, earbuds in a coin purse, separate wallet, etc. This lets you have a more ‘modular’ setup if you switch bags, making adjustments to your EDC convenient and painless. The coin pouch should both protect your earbuds and prevent tangling, improving retrieval out of your bag too. The tools you choose to carry make sense, don’t seem out of place, and offer a good variety of utility. I also like the attention to detail on your keychain, swapping out your USB’s clip for something more sturdy. Retention is key when it comes to smaller, fragile items like that. Overall there are plenty of good concepts going on in this carry and it’s a good example of a nicely planned EDC, with some item choices other people could look into. Thanks for sharing and carry on!

Great site! As a graphic designer, I wanted to submit something a little bit different. I’m from Norfolk, VA and drive a 40-minute commute to work. This is also my first real job, so this carry is basically from a student’s budget.
Blackberry CurvePentel Quicker ClickerG-Shock GlideWD Hard DriveWalletMoleskineRing – Earring PlugsKeysSpyderco Leaf StormChapstickApple Macbook ProiPod Nano
Besides my keys, wallet and jewelry/watch, everything goes into a H&M laptop bag. Within the bag, a majority of the smaller items are organized in a Lihit Lab Teffa Bag in Bag. A few things were not included in the illustration, such as a small first aid kit, several usb flash drives, several markers/pens, and a microfiber cloth.
I am hunting for a useful/minimal keychain tool and flashlight to complete my carry. Any suggestions would be awesome!
-JP
*Note: the objects are not to scale.

Editor’s Note: Hey JP, very cool presentation, great work! I appreciate the use of a woodgrain backdrop too, haha. I can see the utility of your carry given your position as a graphic designer, but as you mentioned, I agree you could round out the carry with some tools on your keychain. My go-to combination is a small, single-cell twisty light and a multitool of sorts. I currently use a 4sevens Mini123 with a primary battery as they last a long time and as a twisty light may offer more reliability (less moving parts to break) paired with a Victorinox Manager, which includes many commonly needed tools including a pen! On a student budget, however, you can invest in a more affordable 1xAAA light like a Fenix E05 and use a simple Victorinox SAK Classic. I’m not too partial to one-piece multitools but YMMV.
To the other readers, what keychain tool setup do you carry? Leave a comment and make some suggestions!
Thanks for sharing your work — I can imagine some people would be very interested in getting one of these made for their own carries :3. Keep it up and carry on.

Heav(ier) duty EDC, usually carried in a small shoulder bag:
Guildhall pocket notebook (much better quality than Moleskine imho), in a plain leather cover.Stainless Embassy pen, stainless Maxmadco pen.Undyed cotton handkerchief.Spyderco Leaf Storm.Saddleback Leather medium bifold wallet.Keychain and tools: Muyshondt Aeon, Leatherman Squirt PS4, and Imakey, and 2 stainless storage fobs.

Editor’s Note: Nice setup… with an EDC bag I see you can manage to carry a nice notebook, some heavy duty pens, and a Saddleback bifold (which aren’t the slimmest to carry I’d imagine, but here it should carry fine and last forever). Good choice on the primary bladetoo. Despite it being one of my older knives, my Leafstorm’s in my pocket every day (still can’t think of a suitable replacement for myself…). I like the pairing of the Aeon and the Squirt, as well as how your keys are modular for ease of access and customization. One concern I have is the two pill-fobs on one McGizmo clip situation — they seem to dangle awkwardly (which again, might not matter if it’s in a bag). I can’t tell from the photo what size clips those are too, but I generally avoid the smaller clips because they tend to easily unclip gear, in my experience. Looking good overall, thanks for sharing.

Top (L to R): CDG Classic Plain, Zissou Keyhook with Cashstash, Leather Triangle for Coins, Blackberry Bold 9000, Rhodia Grid Notebook
Middle: Black Pilot G2 0.5
Bottom: Muji Camera Case, 6m Parachord, Magnesium Rod with Spark Rod, Sharpie Mini, Victorinox Swiss Army Knife, Leatherman Micra, Fenix E01, Parachord, Muji Case

Editor’s Note: Nicely done. I like the re-appropriated camera case into a sort of mini survival kit. That’s a clever and pretty stylish way to conceal and carry a good selection of tools for EDC. Nice wear on your leather goods as well. Your carry looks clean and coherent, and your bases are pretty much covered so keep that up and thanks for sharing.
