Everyday Carry, or EDC, generally refers to small items or gadgets worn, carried, or made available in pockets, holsters, or bags on a daily basis to manage common tasks or for use in unexpected situations or emergencies. In a broader sense, it is a lifestyle, discipline, or philosophy of preparedness.

Hi!
Firstly I’d like to say thank you so much for setting up this site. It seems to be the best, and most coherent website on this topic that I’ve found. I consider myself to be a researcher, and can say I’ve looked at every post on this site whilst considering what my EDC will evolve into…
I started by getting the Rambler, just to see how much I’d use it. I was kinda content with the light and clock on my phone. So I thought multi-tool would be a good place to start.
I used it so much! I’ve barely had it a month and it’s been used nearly everyday (often more than just once too!) each tool has been used equally as much nearly, except maybe the scissors, which was ironically why I went for this model!!
My birthday was coming up so I put a load of my favourite bits up on my wishlist (within price budget constraints a little, though not much!) and here’s what I ended up with:
Seiko SNE095P2
Split Keyring with:
Car and house key
4Sevens Quark MiNi CR2 (arrived today, VERY impressed!)
SAK RamblerZebra Sharbo (pen and mechanical pencil, I’m a graphic designer, so it’s very helpful to switch quickly between drawing with the pencil and crossing off amends with the pen!)
iPhone 4, with what is now a basically redundant clock and light ;)
Apple Bumper Case
Karvt Walnut Chocolate Skin (back only)Apple Screen Cleaner
This is my alternative to a handkerchief (which I will probably look at getting). This is used for cleaning phone/iPad/laptop/iMac screens at home and work, my wife’s glasses and any sunglasses, polishing things (my watch?!) and generally cleaning lots of things, very small and useful.I’ve also got hold of some paracord and am learning knots and working on designs for a few survival lanyards. I’ve got a larger SAK but it’s way to heavy to carry, so may look at adding a backup folder/larger multi-tool at some point, though I’d probably feel conscious about getting it out, especially in the UK!! And maybe a back-up light too at some point.
I am very glad to have found this site, and I hope you enjoy hearing about the progression of my EDC. Let me know what you think!
Thanks!
P.S. EDC is presented on a piece of nice paper to relate to my profession.
Editor’s Note: Hey there, nice setup. My Sharbo served me well as an EDC pen and I’m a big fan of the 58mm SAK + 1xCR2 light combo myself~ Unfortunately it’s hard for me to recommend a multitool or even just a larger blade because of UK knife laws, but I think you might be able to get away with something like a bladeless Fuse or a one-piece prybar/keychain multitool for tools… and a Spyderco UKPK for a blade. Your MiniCR2 should be plenty bright for general EDC tasks and minor illumination. Good luck and thanks for sharing!
