Another Q for you B...was looking for a good edc pen, not looking for one with impact potential just one that wont clunk out on me due to constant carry and bumping. any suggestions? (trying to keep price to a min too)
Hmmm.. Maybe the Zebra F701? It’s an all stainless steel construction with some nice knurling. It seems to be popular enough in the EDC crowd so it must have something going for it (highly moddable too). Maxing out at maybe $6-15 it couldn’t hurt to try it.
Major fan. Coming from the "Hype/Fashion" world, which you are clearly familiar with. I need a knife. Main uses are opening clothing boxes etc, but I want some EDC credibility. Do you have any guidelines for shopping on eBay?
Firstly, it’s kind of disconcerting to see Hype and Fashion used interchangeably. Secondly, how does that impact what knife purchase you are going to make? I assume if you buy a knife, you want to buy it for ‘EDC credibility,’ which I would probably call ‘utility’ and not as a fashion statement. Are you asking for a stylish, sheeple-friendly, non-tactical looking knife? If so, look into “gentleman’s folders.” Opinel seems to be a popular knife amongst the HYPE WORLD and if you’re just cutting boxes open it should serve you well. I personally like Al Mar but those can be a bit pricey…
Hopefully that’s a good start. Just do some research on your own and I’m sure you’ll find something you like.
EDIT: Re: eBay. Just don’t buy fakes. You can probably feel more comfortable buying from popular knife dealers or from respected members on knife forums, too.
What's the best credit card multi-tool? I've been searching around but haven't found anything I like.
It depends on if you want something that’s one-piece or not. There are some solid, single piece steel multitools that are rather cheap such as DX SKU 12590. Other one-piece tools I’ve seen are not as practical (permanent tendon damage) or are difficult to source. I personally would rather spring for a Victorinox Swisscard Lite. It covers most bases and isn’t too expensive, either. Not sure if it would survive back pocket carry, though. Apologies if you’ve already considered these options — recommending a “best” of anything isn’t something I do tho, as every person’s EDC should be unique according to their daily needs. It’s very similar to personal style. I am trying hard to not mention boat shoes right now.
I love your blog and have taken a few shots of my gear that I may be sending you shortly. I just have a question though, doesn't anyone care about uploading photos of their keys to the internet where they could be duplicated? I suppose there's safety in the anonymity but how much?
Thanks for the good work.
Hi jacob, thanks for bringing attention to this subject. Your concern is appreciated.
There is indeed an inherent risk in submitting high resolution pictures of keys on the internet, as they could be duplicated and used in malicious ways… So for future submissions, keep this in mind in case you’ve wronged someone with serious internet stalking ability at some point in your life. I have edited the Submission Guidelines to include this warning.
Thanks for looking out!
P.S. In a completely unrelated note, I will most likely pass on the Supreme switchcomb l o l. Might not b able to resist this tho.
