I'm interested in getting a decent knife to carry around for ever day use and I was wondering what you'd recommend as a, "best bang for your buck," first knife for a college student.
Hmm… The best value knife will depend on your taste/needs. The first thing that came to mind was the Spyderco Persistence. You might also want to look into brands like Buck, Opinel, or even Victorinox for some simple, quality general knives.
I think if you up your budget a little bit, consider the Benchmade Mini Griptilian (that one seems to be popular).
I'm looking for a good bag to carry my EDC kit for days when you don't want to carry it on your person but still want to have access to it. I'm looking for something sturdy, not too flashy, and perhaps with a "military-esque" look in a brown or olive colour. Wondering if you had any suggestions.
I’m not entirely sure what your price range or intended use for this bag is so I’m assuming it’s just to hold what you would carry in your pockets + a little more room for things that wouldn’t fit in pocket.
The Kifaru Escape & Evade is a military/tactical-esque, very small day-pack type bag that comes in brown: http://www.kifaru.net/escape-evade.html
If you want something that’s a little smaller/different maybe the Maxpedition Fatboy would be good? http://www.maxpedition.com/store/pc/FATBOY-VERSIPACK-4p31.htm
It’s hard to make recommendations like this and I think your best bet would be to do a little research over here: http://edcforums.com/forumdisplay.php/86-EDC-Bags
If anyone else has recommendations feel free to comment via Disqus and I’ll update this post. Thanks!
